Chinese shares close higher Monday

BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.38 percent to 3,826.84 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.61 percent higher at 12,666.84 points.

The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 2.42 trillion yuan (about $340.71 billion), up from 2.3 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Stocks in the robotics, pork and satellite internet sectors led the gains, while co-packaged optics and insurance stocks suffered major losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.84 percent to close at 2,933.25 points on Monday.
