Shenzhen will commemorate the 45th anniversary of its founding as a Special Economic Zone with a record-breaking drone show on Aug 26.

An unprecedented fleet of 12,000 drones will perform a 30-minute aerial display — doubling the previous duration record — made possible by technological upgrades. The display, set to start at 8:26 pm, will synchronize with a one-hour skyscraper lighting show across the city.

Prime viewing spots include Shenzhen Civic Square (深圳市民广场) in Futian District and Shenzhen Talent Park (深圳人才公园) in Nanshan District. All reservations for these locations were fully booked within 46 minutes when booking opened this morning.

However, 200 additional spots are available via a lucky draw open until Aug 24. To join, follow the WeChat public account Wenlu Shenzhen (文旅深圳) and message “826” to receive the draw link. Note: The registration interface is in Chinese.
