BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.43 percent to 3,361.98 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.16 percent higher at 10,057.17 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.14 trillion yuan (about $158.62 billion), the same as on the previous trading day.
Shares related to new forms of consumption and innovative drugs led the gains, while those in the automotive sector were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.48 percent to close at 2,002.7 points on Tuesday.
