Zhejiang Lions crushes Liaoning for 2-0 lead in CBA semifinals

HANGZHOU - The Zhejiang Lions dominated the defending champions Liaoning Flying Leopards 110-84 on Monday night, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five semifinal series of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) playoffs.

Zhejiang delivered a strong follow-up to its 109-90 victory in the series opener. Despite a quiet game from CBA regular season MVP Hu Jinqiu, who finished with just two points, Barry Brown Jr had a game-high 30 points and nine assists, while James Nunnally added 21 from the bench.

Liaoning led by five points early in the first quarter before Zhejiang tightened up its defense to build a 16-point lead at the halftime.

Zhejiang, who finished the regular-season with a league-best 39-7 record, took control with an 18-5 run that resulted in a 30-point lead midway through the third quarter. The host led 89-59 going into the fourth and saw out a convincing win.

Fu Hao scored 20 points for Liaoning. Kyle Fogg, who had averaged 23.2 points in the regular season, scored just nine points. The defending champions made just 4 of 22 3-pointers and was 20 for 35 on free throws.

Zhejiang can seal a place in the finals by beating Liaoning in Game 3 on Thursday.
