Zhejiang FC forward Boupendza dies after falling from a building

HANGZHOU - Zhejiang FC announced on Wednesday that its forward Aaron Boupendza from Gabon has died after falling from a building as the police has ruled out foul play.

"Our club's Gabonese player, Aaron Boupendza, tragically passed away at his residence on Wednesday. The club is currently cooperating with relevant authorities in the investigation," read a statement from the Zhejiang club.

The local police issued a statement on Wednesday evening, confirming the death of the 28-year-old player was not caused by foul play.

"Our bureau received a report at approximately 13:14 on Wednesday, saying that someone had fallen from a building in a residential community within our jurisdiction. Our officers quickly arrived at the scene, providing immediate medical assistance and transporting the injured person to the hospital, where they were later declared dead despite attempts at treatment," said police bureau of Yuhang district, Hangzhou.

"Upon verification, the deceased was identified as Boupendza. Through on-site investigation, interviews, and video analysis, the police confirmed that the cause of death was a fall from the balcony of his rented apartment, and foul play has been ruled out."
