The third phase of Shenzhen’s Metro Line 8 is expected to be completed within this year, extending the city’s metro service to Dapeng New District at its eastern end.

The 3.7-kilometer-long new segment of Metro Line 8 starts from Xiaomeisha station in Yantian district and ends at Xichong station in Dapeng. Upon completion, Metro Line 8 and Metro Line 2 will form an east-west railway backbone linking Shenzhen’s Nanshan, Futian, Luohu, Yantian, and Dapeng districts.

According to Shenzhen Metro Group Co, the main structure of Xichong station has been capped, and the project is currently in the electromechanical installation stage.

The extension of Metro Line 8 is expected to enhance commuter traffic in Yantian and Dapeng, playing a key role in supporting the development of Dapeng as a world-class coastal tourism resort.
