Hong Kong residents flocked to Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree in Tai Po on the first day of the Chinese New Year on Jan 29, 2025. People are known to make offerings and tie messages containing wishes to the branches of the tree as a new year ritual, hoping their wishes will be fulfilled. China Daily's Edmond Tang took the photographs.
On the second day of the Chinese New Year on Jan 30, 2025, residents were seen waving lucky windmills at the Che Kung Temple in Tai Wai to pray for good health and good fortune. Praying at the temple is a traditional new year ritual in Hong Kong.

On the third day of the Chinese New Year on Jan 31, 2025, people converged at the Sha Tin Racecourse where Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po officiated at the opening ceremony of the Chinese New Year Raceday.
Popular singer Hins Cheung performed and jockeys extended good wishes to fans. Visitors watched lion dancing and had a chance to meet the God of Wealth.

Also, on the first day of the Chinese New Year, Chief Secretary for Administration Chan Kwok-ki paid a visit to the Lo Wu Control Point to take stock of arrangements and greet the staff on duty. He was accompanied by Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung; Director of Immigration Mr Benson Kwok and the Commissioner of Customs and Excise Chan Tsz-ta.
On Monday, Chan participated in year-end care visits to 18 districts co-ordinated by the Home Affairs Department. On Tuesday, he was at the Yau Ma Tei Community Centre Rest Garden to share with the public the joy of the festive season and welcome the Year of the Snake together.
