BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.27 percent to 2,862.19 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.62 percent lower at 8,393.70 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 563.08 billion yuan (about $78.81 billion), down from 619.88 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Shares related to real estate, consumer electronics and dentistry led the gains, while those linked to vitamins and games suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, dropped by 0.98 percent to close at 1,595.64 points.
