HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Observatory said it will consider raising the typhoon signal No. 1 as Super Typhoon Gaemi will be within 800 kilometers of the city on Wednesday night before making landfall in Fujian tomorrow.
The HKO said it will consider hoisting the Standby Signal, No. 1 depending on the distance between Hong Kong and Gaemi and on whether the city will be affected by its circulation and strong winds.
The super typhoon is expected to maintain a distance of over around 600 kilometers from Hong Kong before making landfall in Fujian on Thursday, the observatory said.

It said the weather will still be very hot in Hong Kong on Thursday due to the outer subsiding air of Gaemi, with temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius or even higher over parts of the territory.
The high temperatures may trigger thundery showers later tomorrow and there will be more showers and a few squally thunderstorms over coastal areas on Friday and during the weekend, the observatory said.
