Going extra 'smile'

HONG KONG - Hong Kong's taxi sector hopes to go the extra "smile" starting Thursday with the launch of a large-scale campaign to promote hospitable services.  

The Hong Kong Taxi Council, organizer of the the campaign, said the drive aims to boost the image of taxi drivers and enhance driver-passenger communication.

Young courtesy ambassadors would be deployed to assist passengers in the city's busy taxi stands and distribute promotional materials to passengers and drivers.

Running from June 6 to Aug 27, the measure is part of the government's newly-launched hospitality campaign "Let's Go the Extra Mile" to burnish the city's status as a premier tourist destination and elevate hospitality and service quality in various sectors.
