An ancestral memorial ceremony, the first after the three-year COVID-19 pandemic, was held at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong on Sunday.

Some 11,000 Chinese compatriots from seven countries and regions in Asia and Europe converged in Hong Kong for the event, making it one of the largest ancestral memorial events both in Hong Kong and the world.

The event also commemorated the late Venerable Master Chin Kung, a famous Buddhist master who dedicated his life to teaching and promoting the spirit of “filial piety”, “respect for teachers”, as well as “gratitude for ancestors”. The master passed away last July.
