KUALA LUMPUR - Chinese shuttlers saw mixed results on the first day of the Malaysia Masters 2023 on Tuesday.
Women's doubles duo Liu Shengshu/Tan Ning lost out to South Korea's Jeong Na-eun/Kim Hye-jeong 21-19, 15-21, 21-13 in a grueling match lasting an hour and 17 minutes. They had just arrived in for the match after competing in the recently concluded 2023 Sudirman Cup.
Men's doubles pair He Jiting/Zhou Haodong advanced after Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin of Chinese Taipei were forced to retire from the match.
Meanwhile, men's doubles team of Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi from Malaysia outmatched China's Ren Xiangyu/Tan Qiang 21-16, 21-18 despite the latter's strong efforts.
