Xi congratulates Diaz-Canel on reelection as Cuban president

BEIJING - General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday sent a message of congratulations to the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez on his re-election as Cuban president.

In his message, Xi said that currently, China-Cuba relations are running at a high level with new progress continuously made.

Xi further said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Cuba relations, and is willing to maintain close communication with Diaz-Canel

Xi added that Diaz-Canel's state visit to China last November was a complete success, during which he and Diaz-Canel reached important consensus on continuously deepening the special and friendly relations between China and Cuba in the new era.

Xi further said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Cuba relations, and is willing to maintain close communication with Diaz-Canel and continue to strengthen political guidance for the relations between the two parties and the two countries in joint efforts to build a China-Cuba community with a shared future. 

Also on Thursday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang sent a congratulatory message to Manuel Marrero on his assuming office once again as prime minister of the Republic of Cuba.

Li expressed his willingness to work with Marrero to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and keep deepening cooperation in various fields so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples.
