HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government has decided to renew the lease of the Fringe Club at its historic home in Central.
In a statement, an HKSAR government spokesman said the lease for the Hong Kong Festival Fringe Limited, based in the Old Dairy Farm Building, a heritage site, was renewed for one year starting April 1, 2023.
“In making the decision, the government has taken into account the current operation of the Fringe Club and the need for providing space and facilities for small and medium-sized performing groups in Hong Kong,” the statement reads.
The spokesman said the government will invite proposals in the middle of this year to identify “the most suitable non-profit-making operator of the premises” after the current lease expires.
