HONG KONG - With the northeast monsoon over southern China generally weaker than normal, March 2022 was much warmer than usual, the Hong Kong Observatory said on Monday.

The monthly mean maximum temperature of 25.0 degrees Celsius was 3.1 degrees above normal and the highest on record for March, the HKO said.

The Hong Kong Observatory said the total rainfall in the month was 92.7 millimetres, about 23 percent above the normal figure of 75.3mm

Moreover, the monthly mean temperature of 21.5 degrees and monthly mean minimum temperature of 19.2 degrees were respectively the second and the sixth highest on record for March, it added.

The temperature recorded at the HKO rose to a maximum of 29.3 degrees in the afternoon of March 31, the highest for the month.

The HKO said the total rainfall in the month was 92.7 millimetres, about 23 percent above the normal figure of 75.3mm. 

The accumulated rainfall of 265.3mm in the first three months of the year was about 80 percent above the normal figure of 147.4mm for the same period, it added.
