The centenary of the Communist Party of China this year has sparked celebrations across the nation to mark the Party’s rich history and achievements.
Extensive activities on the theme of Forever Following the Party were carried out through artistic performances, voluntary services and experience programs. Events were held on the subject of the Communist Party, socialism, the reform and opening-up and the great motherland.
On June 10, in Taizhou city, Jiangsu province, an event under the above-mentioned theme was held with local characteristics. Art forms such as recitations, singing and allegros were used to show the glorious course of the Party.

Also, on June 10, in Chengyang district, Qingdao, Shandong province, a group wedding on the theme of “passing family traditions, establishing new social morality, feeling the kindness from the Party, and following the Party” was held with 25 couples.
In Hainan province, the provincial history museum set up an exhibition on the theme of The Red Flag Will Not Fall, portraying the solidarity between the local Party branch in Qiongya and the people in the struggles during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the War of Liberation (1946-49).

In Hong Kong, a large-scale rehearsal dance performance “City Dance to Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China” was held on May 29.
The anniversary celebrations reached a climax on June 28 with Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, joining around 20,000 people to watch a grand gala held in Beijing.
Members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji and Han Zheng, as well as Vice-President Wang Qishan, were among Party and State leaders who watched the gala at National Stadium.
Along with music and songs, fireworks displaying “100” lit up the night sky over the stadium. A shining Party emblem was shown on the stage, kicking off the grand gala event.

Called The Great Journey, the four-part gala performance was presented in the style of a large-scale theater production.
It celebrated China’s historic achievements and the transformations that have taken place under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at its core since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012.
The gala came to a climax with fireworks lighting up the sky again amid applause and cheers.
