TASHKENT - Rio Olympic champion Shi Zhiyong of China lifted the 73kg title at the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Tuesday.

Shi, returning to international competition after over a year's hiatus due to the pandemic, broke his own snatch world record to lift 169kg and cleared 194kg in clean and jerk to win the gold with a 363kg total.

Turkmenistan's Maksad Meredov was second with a best of 336kg (147+189). Japan's Masanori Miyamoto took bronze with 335kg (150+185).
