MADRID - Real Sociedad will entertain second division Mirandes in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal on Thursday night in what will be a special game for Mirandes' duo Martin Merquelanz and Jon Guridi.
Real Sociedad booked their place in the last four with a thrilling 4-3 win away to Real Madrid in the quarterfinals last week
The duo are on loan at the club coached by former Athletic Club Bilbao defender Andoni Iriola, with Merquelanz the club's top scorer and top assist provider.
Mirandes have been the revelation of this season's Copa del Rey, knocking out Primera Liga rivals, Celta Vigo, Sevilla and Villarreal on their way to their second semifinal appearance in eight years.

All of those wins came in their compact Anduva Stadium, however, this will be the first time since the first round that the club has had to play away from home, with around 1,500 fans making the short trip to San Sebastian.
Real Sociedad booked their place in the last four with a thrilling 4-3 win away to Real Madrid in the quarterfinals last week, with a match-winning performance from striker Alexander Isak. The 20-year-old Swede is rapidly turning into one of the revelations of the season and followed his goals in the cup with the winning goal in Sunday's Basque derby at home to Athletic Club.
Coach Imanol Alguacil rested several players for Sunday's game and Diego Llorente and Martin Odegaard should be fresh for the game.

"You can tell that it is an important game and we are all very motivated because it is a unique opportunity for us to make history and play a Cup final with 'La Real'" commented Real Sociedad defender Joseba Zaldua to the press on Tuesday.
Real Sociedad are aiming to play their first final in over 30 years, while Mirandes are looking to continue their incredible run and take the step they were unable to take in their other semi-final appearance 12 years ago.
