China opposes overstretching the concept of national security and politicizing technology and trade issues, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Tuesday.

Mao made the remarks at a regular news briefing in response to a question about reports that the US government had instructed federal agencies to stop using artificial intelligence tools developed by Chinese company DeepSeek, citing potential security risks, including the possible transfer of sensitive data to China.

"China will firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises," Mao said.
