Renowned tenor Juan Diego Flórez to make HK Phil debut

World-renowned operatic tenor Juan Diego Flórez will make his debut with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of distinguished conductor Michele Spotti later this month.                                  

Two concerts will be held in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, Guangdong province, on Oct 22 and 24, respectively, according to HK Phil. Tickets are being sold.

One of the most recognized artists in today’s opera, Flórez has captivated audiences at The Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, the Royal Opera House, and beyond. Renowned for his bel canto artistry, the Peruvian tenor is also the founder of Sinfonía por el Perú, a transformative initiative bringing music to underserved young people.

A Rolex Testimonee since 2015, Flórez shares the brand’s commitment to the transmission of artistic excellence to future generations.

His Hong Kong debut offers a rare opportunity to experience this world-class vocal powerhouse in arias by Rossini, Donizetti, Massenet and Verdi, among others.

Michele Spotti is the Musical Director of Marseille’s Opera House and Philharmonic Orchestra and has been appointed by the Deutsche Oper Berlin as the next Principal Guest Conductor starting from the 2026/2027 season. (PROVIDED TO CHINA DAILY)

The concert will be conducted by Michele Spotti, musical director of Marseille’s Opera House and Philharmonic Orchestra.

Rolex Proudly Presents: Juan Diego Flórez Opera Gala will be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall at 7:30 pm on Oct 22.

Following the Hong Kong performance, Flórez, Spotti and the HK Phil will travel to Guangzhou to present the same program. Juan Diego Flórez x HK Phil Opera Gala will be held at the Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall at 8 pm on Oct 24.
