Hong Kong’s four major electronics and lighting fairs next month are expected to draw about 6,200 exhibitors, with artificial intelligence, robotics and future industries among the main themes amid strong global demand for AI-related technologies.
The events will also attract more than 200 buyer delegations from some 70 markets, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) said at a news conference on Tuesday.
The Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and the electronicAsia will run concurrently at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from Oct 13-16. The Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo as well as the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) will follow later in October.
“Demand from international buyers is very strong,” said Steve Chuang Tzu-hsiung, chairman of the HKTDC’s Electronics/Electrical Appliances Industries Advisory Committee. “Many buyers have told me they hope to place orders at the electronics fair for delivery within this year.”
According to HKTDC data, electronics products accounted for more than 80 percent of Hong Kong’s major exports. In the first eight months of 2026, the city’s electronics exports surged 52.8 percent year-on-year to more than HK$3.8 trillion ($484 billion).
Chuang said the figures showed that the technology industry was entering a new round of upgrading, with AI becoming a core driver of product innovation and market growth.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government on Sept 16 released the 2026 Policy Address and the First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development (2026-2030), setting out priorities that include consolidating and enhancing Hong Kong’s role as an international trade center, accelerating the city’s development into an international innovation and technology hub, and deepening the application and development of AI.
The autumn electronics fair will revolve around three themes — AI and robotics, smart living, and next-generation entertainment. More than 120 robots will be on display, demonstrating applications in business and services, industry and logistics, entertainment and social interaction, and healthcare and rehabilitation.
Among the exhibitors will be Agibot, one of the world’s leading humanoid robot-makers by shipments in the first half of 2026, according to market research data; and Shenzhen Honor Smart Technology Development Co Ltd, whose robot won the 2026 Beijing E-Town half-marathon.
This year’s fair will also feature a new Future Industries Zone, showcasing emerging technologies and applications in five areas, including future computing, future manufacturing, future marine technology and quantum technology. Around 100 exhibitors are expected to take part.
HKTDC Associate Executive Director Silas Chu Yiu-cheong said the new zone aims to help research breakthroughs find practical applications and industrial partners, speeding up their commercialization.
“It is also intended to connect innovation and technology companies with investors, corporate clients and overseas markets, so that their technologies can be turned into business opportunities,” Chu said.
