HONG KONG – The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) has expressed strong support for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government’s first five-year plan and the 2026 Policy Address, praising its long-term strategic planning across healthcare, education, elderly care, youth development, housing and cultural heritage conservation.

So Yau-on, CEO of TWGHs, highlighted the administration’s focus on high-quality development to safeguard and improve livelihoods.

TWGHs operates a Community Living Room in Yau Ma Tei, which has served more than 30,000 individuals in just six months since its launch in January 2026, aligning with the government’s policy to expand such grassroots support, said So.

He also backed the establishment of "welfare information sharing e-platform" for targeted assistance and welcomed the gradual increase in residential care service vouchers for the elderly.

In response to the Policy Address’s call for " Community Dining Halls," So said TWGHs launched a similar initiative years ago in Tai Kok Tsui, sharing the same objective of leveraging community resources to meet the dining and social needs of the elderly and their caregivers. The group will also participate in the "Wellness-on-Wheels" service to visit isolated elders.

TWGHs chairman Tsang Hing-yip reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to collaborating with the government on reforms that align with its core services, including strengthening primary healthcare, expanding traditional Chinese medicine services, promoting AI in education, and supporting community services for Light Public Housing.

Tsang emphasized that TWGHs will continue to foster patriotic education and cultural confidence.

Now in its 156th year, the charitable organization operates 400 service units across Hong Kong, including five hospitals and numerous social service facilities.
