China is currently accelerating the creation of a new framework for high-standard opening-up. As a major pillar of this strategic layout, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is advancing toward a stage of higher-quality and higher-level development. With the unique advantage of enjoying strong national backing while remaining closely connected to the global market, Hong Kong has consistently served as a critical node and functional platform for the BRI. Since its inception, CICC has drawn on the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s strength as a premier international finance hub to underpin the nation’s drive for high-level opening-up.

As an international financial center, Hong Kong is equipped with a well-established legal system, professionals and talents, and extensive regulatory experience. Meanwhile, as the leading offshore renminbi center of the world, Hong Kong plays a vital role in facilitating cross-border capital flows, the internationalization of the RMB, and connectivity between domestic and international financial markets. Leveraging these strengths, Hong Kong deepens its ties with BRI markets. It facilitates the high-quality global footprint of Chinese enterprises while actively attracting international capital, effectively fostering two-way connectivity between the Chinese mainland and global financial markets.

Upholding its motto, ‘Chinese roots, international reach’

CICC has established a global footprint centered in the Hong Kong SAR and extending to Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, and other markets.

Drawing on Hong Kong’s internationally aligned regulatory framework, deep professional talent pool, and our global business synergy, CICC continuously sharpens its cross-border service capabilities, delivering end-to-end financial solutions that seamlessly bridge domestic and overseas clients with the global market. With a clear focus on the nation’s high-level opening-up and global financial cooperation, the firm continues to serve as a bridge in cross-border finance across three key areas: driving practical BRI cooperation, accelerating RMB internationalization, and deepening global exchanges and research partnerships.

Solidly advancing tangible BRI cooperation

CICC helps enterprises efficiently connect with global capital market resources, driving deeper integration of industry, capital, and markets. With deep expertise in equity financing, debt financing, and cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A), CICC serves as a bridge between enterprises and capital, as well as between onshore and offshore markets. These capabilities empower BRI market participants seeking global capital. In 2025, acting as the sole sponsor, CICC successfully helped Jiaxin International Resources achieve a simultaneous dual listing on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) and the BRI Board of the Astana International Exchange (AIX). This project set a global precedent for a dual listing on HKEX and AIX and marked the first RMB-denominated stock in Central Asia. In June 2026, CICC assisted Indonesian gold producer MGR in completing its Hong Kong initial public offering. This project was not only the first instance of Hong Kong Depositary Receipts (HDR) issued by an Indonesian enterprise and the first secondary listing in Hong Kong by an Indonesia Stock Exchange-listed company, but also became the largest Hong Kong IPO by a Southeast Asian issuer since 2024.

Focusing on RMB internationalization to support financial integration under the BRI

Leveraging Hong Kong’s unique advantages as an offshore RMB center, CICC actively engages in RMB internationalization, providing professional support for cross-border financing and financial market connectivity. In recent years, the firm has continuously expanded cross-border financing and trading scenarios in offshore RMB bonds, Panda bonds, Bond Connect, Swap Connect, and offshore RMB. It has also deepened cooperation with overseas central banks, sovereign institutions, and international investors, continually enriching the cross-border RMB financing ecosystem. Since early 2026, CICC has successively completed several milestone Panda bond projects, including first for Kazakhstan’s Samruk-Kazyna and subsequently for Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund in completing its first-ever issuance of 7 billion yuan ($1 billion) in sovereign Panda bonds. These landmark issuances not only diversified funding sources for partner nations but also significantly deepened the real-economy connection between China and BRI participating countries.

Strengthening global communication and connectivity

Beyond financial services, CICC actively leverages its comprehensive strengths in research, resource integration, and international communication to enhance exchanges and cooperation with overseas market entities and promote mutual understanding between domestic and foreign markets. Through its global research platform, the firm provides in-depth analytical services to domestic and international clients, continuously expanding channels for international dialogue via international forums, research collaborations, thematic seminars, and overseas research trips. This year, the company has successfully hosted a series of efficient dialogue platforms, including the Hong Kong Innovation Forum, the CICC 2026 London Wealth Management Forum in the United Kingdom, the Summit on Singapore Listing Opportunities for Chinese Enterprises with the Singapore Exchange Group, the 4th China-Southeast Asia Economic and Finance Forum in Singapore, and the launch of the inaugural CICC Embark Salon in Hong Kong. On September 16, CICC will host its inaugural 2026 Autumn Investment Strategy Conference in Hong Kong, where renowned investment institutions and industry leaders from home and abroad will gather. Additionally, alongside 10 institutions including the Bank of China and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, CICC co-initiated the Going Global Universal Cooperation Alliance, which is dedicated to building a coordinated, resource-focused, internally and externally connected, multidimensional overseas expansion and service ecosystem for Chinese enterprises going global.

Looking ahead, CICC remains firmly committed to supporting the BRI. We will continue to expand its footprint in BRI markets, leveraging its unique “investment + investment banking + research” synergy to deepen cooperation with local enterprises, institutions, and investors. By proactively tackling risks and embracing financial innovation, CICC is committed to driving the high-quality, sustainable development of the BRI for years to come.
