Hong Kong Week 2026@Chengdu opened at the Sichuan Culture and Arts Center in Chengdu on Friday with the legendary story of superstar Bruce Lee as the opening performance.
Presented by the Hong Kong Dance Company, Kung Fu Artistry retells the Bruce Lee story through a blend of martial arts, dance, multimedia and jazz.
Organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Hong Kong Week 2026@Chengdu will run through Sept 20, featuring over 60 performances, exhibitions and activities covering dance, music, theatre, film, intangible cultural heritage, toy culture and design.
Addressing the opening ceremony in a video message, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said the long-standing exchanges between Sichuan and the SAR have laid a solid foundation for the staging of Hong Kong Week in the Sichuan provincial capital.

Lee said Hong Kong will continue to play its roles of a “superconnector” and “super value-adder” to foster efficient connections among arts and cultural resources and markets on the Chinese mainland and places overseas, thereby assisting in the wider and further promotion of Chinese culture.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui said since its inception in 2019, Hong Kong Week has become an important platform for deepening cultural exchanges and telling good stories about the country and Hong Kong.
The diverse programs of Hong Kong Week 2026@Chengdu showcase the rich and multifaceted creativity of Hong Kong, while bearing witness to the great friendships forged between artists from Sichuan and Hong Kong through their collaborations, she said.
