Mexico's Secretary of Foreign Affairs Roberto Velasco Alvarez will travel to China on Sunday in a visit which is expected to enhance political mutual trust between China and the Latin American nation and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

The visit, which will last until Monday, will be Velasco's first to China since he took office in April.

Through the visit, China hopes that the two sides will have an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of common interest, and jointly promote the stable development of China-Mexico relations so as to deliver more benefits to the two peoples, the ministry's spokesman Guo Jiakun said.

Over the five decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, bilateral relations have continued to grow, cooperation in various areas has yielded fruitful results, and the two sides have maintained close coordination in international and regional affairs, Guo said.
