Hong Kong Disneyland welcomes 30+ fencing teams, showcases sports tourism

“To infinity and beyond!” Just like Buzz Lightyear’s iconic line, the determination of world-class athletes to push boundaries and pursue excellence is truly inspiring. As Hong Kong hosts the Fencing World Championships for the first time, co-organized by the Fencing Association of Hong Kong, China and the International Fencing Federation (FIE) at AsiaWorld-Expo, the city celebrates a historic milestone in staging international sports events.

During the competition period, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) hosted around 300 athletes and their support staff, as well as their families and friends, to participate in the fun of the Pixar Summer Fest. Guests represented more than 30 teams, including China, the United States, Hungary, Austria, Ukraine, and Romania, and representatives from the International Fencing Federation (FIE). For many fencers, it was their first visit to the resort, making the experience unforgettable.

Tim Sypko, managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, welcomed the visiting athletes and joined them for a group photo, capturing a joyful moment together. HKDL ambassadors join athletes on the Jungle River Cruise

HKDL ambassadors Charlotte Wong and Daniella Rocca also welcomed the fencers and accompanied the teams to experience one of the resort’s classic attractions — the Jungle River Cruise. Guided by the skipper’s dynamic commentary, guests embarked on a thrilling and adventurous voyage. Along the way, the skipper interacted enthusiastically with the athletes, filling the journey with laughter and magical memories.

The fencing teams also joined the Pixar Summer Fest, where they could enjoy close encounters with beloved Pixar pals and a variety of immersive experiences. Highlights included the refreshing “Pixar Water Play Street Party!” and the all-new “Pixar Pals Spectacular”, featuring drones and projections as a prelude to the “Momentous” nighttime spectacular. Blending cutting-edge drone technology with dazzling light displays, the show immersed guests in heartwarming Pixar stories of friendship.
