A group of Chinese mainland heavy machinery companies on Tuesday brought its latest products that incorporate artificial intelligence, digitalization and new energy elements to an exhibition in Hanoi, Vietnam, vowing to expand into more overseas markets.
The exhibition was organized by Shandong Heavy Industry Group (SDHI) as part of the Jinan-based high-end equipment manufacturer’s endeavor to display its green intelligent products to over 1,500 cooperators from 62 countries and regions.
Running on Tuesday and Wednesday, the exhibition showcases 145 products made by SDHI and companies under its auspices, diversified green and low-carbon power systems and electric energy equipment, natural gas tractor trucks, and electric pallet trucks.
In responding to Southeast Asia’s green and low-carbon development trends, the expo displays a full-industry-chain green intelligent equipment system, which can match the region’s diverse needs, including smart logistics, intelligent freight transport, green passenger transport, and low-carbon infrastructure.

In his opening address, Wang Zhijian, secretary of the Party committee and chairman of SDHI, said the expo has showcased the company’s hard-core technology leadership, spanning from alternative fuels to new energy, and AI-powered intelligent connected solutions.
During a preview session on Tuesday, companies’ representatives and operators briefed the media on the advantages of their products, and shared their views on expansion into new markets.
At a booth of Weichai LOVOL Intelligent Agricultural, a leading agricultural equipment and smart agriculture solutions provider, Li Defang, a director at its Smart Agriculture Research Institute, said that its tractor products are equipped with stronger engines and able to cope with heavy-duty operations.
Li said that LOVOL's flagship E4104 hybrid tractor, which is equipped with electronically controlled continuously variable transmission technology, can help Vietnam develop smart agriculture, and provide scientific planting solutions through algorithms analysis, adding that the Vietnam market has developed into one of the group’s most important in Southeast Asia.
Erik Wilde, the United States-based president of Generac, a total energy solutions company, praised the quality of Weichai’s products. He said attending the expo gave him a precious opportunity to talk to company representatives in person, adding that SDHI products have achieved exceptional results in the US.

Zhang Liming, a director of Lovol Heavy Industry Group Co Ltd’s Southeast Asia (region 1), said that Southeast Asia is shifting toward new energy development, and his company is focusing on exhibiting its battery-electric and tethered electric products.
Zhang said the technologies can better provide mining and new energy solutions for the Southeast Asian market and accelerate the green transition.
“Under the ongoing conflict in the Middle East that has driven up global crude oil prices, there is a larger market for electric vehicles, and our orders in Vietnam are continuously rising,” Zhang said, adding that the company had taken new orders on the first morning of the exhibition.
To Tuan Nam, general manager of Nanbi Vietnam Investment Trading Services, has collaborated with Weichai for 26 years. The Vietnamese distributor said the company’s products have various application scenarios in the Vietnamese market, including extensive use in tourist boats and high-speed passenger vessels, as well as developing logistics operations. He said he hopes to broaden cooperation on higher-power machines, which could be used at Vietnamese ports.
Tee Seng Chuan, managing director of KION South Asia, said the establishment of KION's Vietnam subsidiary reflects the Group's long-term commitment to one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing markets, enabling it to serve customers with greater proximity and responsiveness.
To capture the market's growth opportunities, KION is implementing a multi-brand, omni-channel strategy. Linde Material Handling will serve the premium segment with advanced innovations in automation and heavy trucks, while Baoli will address the value-driven mass market. In addition to strengthening its direct presence, KION is also expanding its reach through a growing network of channel partners across Vietnam.
On Wednesday, SDHI will host a global partners conference at Hanoi’s Vinpalace, with an initiative called “Co-Build a New Ecosystem for Green and Intelligent Equipment Industry”, as well as signing several key strategic cooperation projects with local partners.
