On the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the city celebrated with special offers and services to enhance the festive atmosphere.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said on social media that nearly 3,500 restaurants and businesses offered special deals on Wednesday, sharing the joy with the public. Chan and his colleagues participated in the celebrations by sampling local delicacies.

Deputy Secretary for Administration Cheuk Wing-hing, along with Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong Wai-lun and Deputy Secretary for Justice Cheung Kwok-kwan, dined at a restaurant in Sheung Wan, enjoying a 29 percent discount on the entire bill in honor of the handover anniversary. Cheuk noted that the discount drew a large crowd, creating a lively atmosphere, with many customers capturing the moment by taking photos with restaurant staff.

Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung hosted members of the youth wing from the Civil Aid Service at the "A Voyage to Space: China’s Manned Space Expedition" exhibition at the Hong Kong Space Museum, allowing them to experience the remarkable achievements of the nation's space program.

Separately, Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung Ho Poi-yan, accompanied by two young administrative officers, visited Lui Seng Chun — a Grade 1 historic building in Mong Kok — built in 1931 and now revitalized as part of the School of Chinese Medicine at Hong Kong Baptist University. They explored the hall's community services and took advantage of special July 1 discounts.
