After APEC meeting, time for almond cookies
By Wang Zhan

Delegates attending the 13th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Tourism Ministerial Meeting in Macao got hands-on experience with the city’s distinctive culture on Sunday by learning how to make traditional almond cookies.

The activity was part of an inspection tour organized by the Macao Special Administrative Region government and China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, following the successful holding of the 13th APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting on Saturday.

Their first stop was the Macao Museum of Art, where they visited the exhibition Ancient China in Cultural and Creative Products. The exhibition features carefully selected cultural and creative items from more than 10 museums on the Chinese mainland, tracing the evolution of Chinese dynasties and social culture.

Workshops on making almond cookies and dragon’s beard candy were held at the museum. Artisans provided live demonstrations of their intricate techniques, and delegates had the opportunity to take part in selected steps of the production process.
