Southern China is bracing for continued heavy showers and squally thunderstorms as an active southwest monsoon and a trough of low pressure impact the region. The Hong Kong Observatory issued an amber rainstorm warning at 11:10 am on Monday, alongside a thunderstorm warning lasting until 6:30 pm.

The coastal areas, particularly around Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea, are expected to experience unsettled weather conditions on Tuesday and in the coming days.

Meteorologists have warned that the trough of low pressure will linger near the coast, leading to persistent rainfall and stormy weather. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to flooding.
