
Xia Baolong, the country’s top official overseeing Hong Kong and Macao affairs, on Thursday wrapped up a four-day inspection tour in Guangdong province’s Zhuhai city and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
Xia, director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, conducted the tour to support the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions’ proactive alignment with the nation’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), and to deepen their participation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development and further their integration into, and serving of, the country’s overall development strategy.

The tour involved visits to key logistics, innovation, higher education, and cultural institutions in Zhuhai and the Hengqin cooperation zone, including the Macao International Airport’s Hengqin front cargo facility, the Guangdong Institute of Intelligence Science and Technology, the first phase of the Macao-Hengqin International Education (University) Town, and the Hengqin International Film Studio.
Xia was accompanied by Xu Qifang, executive deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the CPC Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, and Zheng Xincong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR.
Macao SAR Chief Executive Sam Hou-fai also joined Xia’s tour in the Hengqin zone.
