Temperatures across many parts of Hong Kong soared to around 34 degrees Celsius around noon on Friday, driven by an anticyclone aloft bringing extremely hot weather to the Guangdong coast.

Cautioning against prolonged heat, the Hong Kong Observatory has advised people to take all necessary protective measures against the heat, avoid vigorous outdoor physical activities and drink more water.
