BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.11 percent to 4,112.16 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.09 percent lower at 15,107.55 points.

The combined turnover of the two indices totaled 2.74 trillion yuan (about $400 billion), up from 2.59 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Furniture, ceramics, and aircraft manufacturing stocks led the gains, while steel, pesticides and fertilizers, and electric power sectors tumbled.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.27 percent to close at 3,677.15 points Thursday.

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 3.42 percent higher at 1,950.43 points on Thursday.
