The China Coast Guard (CCG) has successfully expelled a Japanese fishing vessel, Asamaru, after it unlawfully intruded into the territorial waters of China's Diaoyu Island on Monday. The CCG undertook necessary administrative measures and issued stern warnings to the vessel, ensuring its departure in strict accordance with Chinese law, it said in a statement on Tuesday afternoon.

Diaoyu Island and its affiliated islands have long been recognized as an integral part of China's territory, it said, adding that the incident underscored the unwavering commitment of the Chinese government to safeguard its sovereign rights and maritime interests in the region.

The CCG reiterated China's firm stance, urging the Japanese side to immediately cease all actions that violate China's rights and provoke tensions in the relevant waters.

"The CCG will continue to conduct rights-protection and law enforcement operations around Diaoyu Island, and resolutely safeguard China's sovereignty and maritime rights and interests," it said.
