
Visitor arrivals in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region reached nearly 50 million last year, with more than three-fourths of visitors coming from the Chinese mainland, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
The HKTB said in a statement on Monday that the provisional full-year visitor arrivals for 2025 reached 49.9 million, up 12 percent year-on-year. The city saw 4.65 million arrivals in December, an increase of 9 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

Over the course of 2025, the number of visitors from the Chinese mainland increased 11 percent year-on-year to 37.8 million, accounting for 76 percent of total arrivals in the SAR.
Visitors from abroad rose 15 percent year-on-year to around 12.1 million. Markets including Taiwan region, Japan, Vietnam, Australia, and the Middle East saw robust growth with year-on-year increases of 25 percent or more.

Arrivals from short-haul markets, including the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and India, matched or surpassed pre-pandemic levels.
The HKTB said the average length of stay for overnight visitors was 3.1 nights over the past year. According to bureau’s departing visitor survey, overnight visitors rated their satisfaction with Hong Kong on a scale of 10 points at 8.9 points.
