A five-episode mini-drama commemorating the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-1945) and the World Anti-Fascist War will be aired for five consecutive nights starting Friday at 9:30 pm on RTHK TV 31.
Produced by Radio Television Hong Kong in collaboration with the Hong Kong SAR government’s Information Services Department, the mini-drama Victory in War of Resistance aims to enhance public awareness of the war to cultivate patriotic feelings and foster a strong sense of national identity and belonging.
Speaking at the launch ceremony of the mini-drama on Friday, the convenor of the Working Group on Patriotic Education under the Constitution and Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee, Starry Lee Wai-king, said that the group has been dedicated to promoting patriotic spirit through various channels.
“We understand that for patriotic education to truly resonate, it must connect with people's daily lives, and the format of film and television production is an effective medium.”

Lee said she believed the drama can give the audience a deeper understanding of the motherland's history during the war, evoke respect and love for the country, and inspire appreciation for peace.
Set against the backdrop of the fall of Hong Kong, the story follows two cousins joining the guerrilla forces and developing a sense of patriotism after witnessing the brutal suffering inflicted upon villagers by the Japanese army.
Director of Broadcasting Angelina Kwan Yuen-yee said that the production team utilized artificial intelligence technology to not only recreate historical scenes, but also enhance production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
“We hope this series does more than revisit history; we hope it instills the values and patriotic spirit of defending our homeland,” Kwan said.
Director of Information Services Apollonia Liu Lee Ho-keiadded that this project marks the first time for a mini-drama format — a trendier approach — to convey the nation's history and patriotic sentiments.
In addition to television, the drama will also be simultaneously broadcast on the RTHK and ISD website for public viewing.
