This year's Policy Address will maintain its focus on driving economic growth and improving public welfare, with green continuing to be the thematic color, symbolizing vitality and ongoing momentum, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu revealed on Tuesday.

A day before delivering the fourth Policy Address of his five-year term, Lee showcased the new policy document at a media briefing held before an Executive Council meeting.

Lee presented the theme of the Policy Address as deepening reform, caring for livelihoods, leveraging strengths, and co-creating the future. The address will introduce short, medium, and long-term policies, emphasizing economic development and livelihoods improvement, which also reflects his consistent governance philosophy over the past few years. While explaining the selection of the color green for the cover of the Policy Address, he said that it represents the vitality of the SAR government’s policies which will continue as Hong Kong moves towards a brighter future.

The city's leader disclosed that during the drafting process of the Policy Address, the government conducted more than 40 consultation sessions and directly interacted with a broad selection of the community. In total, the government received 10,100 suggestions through various channels. Lee indicated that after publication on Wednesday, he and his team will elaborate on the policies to various media outlets or organizations.

The public consultation for this year’s Policy Address was initiated by the government on June 16, as it will be published sooner than in previous years to facilitate adequate preparations before the Legislative Council election in December.
