PHNOM PENH - Cambodia said on Tuesday that Thai domestic legal action against its leaders seriously undermined all efforts exerted so far to achieve a lasting ceasefire.
Thailand's acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai reportedly said on Monday that Thailand pursued its civil and criminal lawsuits against Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet in Thai courts after recent border incidents.
Phumtham said that Hun Sen and Hun Manet would be immediately arrested if found in Thailand.
In a reaction to Phumtham's remarks, the Cambodian Foreign Ministry issued a statement, saying that such Thai legal action against Cambodian leaders "seriously undermines all efforts exerted so far to achieve a lasting ceasefire and to restore peace and normalcy between the two countries".
The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Cambodian government to work with the Thai government to achieve peace and restore relations to normalcy in the nearest future.
