HONG KONG - The Community Emergency Aid Team and Yuen Long Ha Tsuen Rural Committee held a ceremony at Yuen Long's Tang Ancestral Hall on Friday, marking the 80th anniversary of the victory against Japanese aggression and fascism.
Lam Chun, president of the Society of the Veterans of the Original Hong Kong Independent Battalion of the Dong Jiang Column, inspected the parade and joined youth groups in displaying a national flag to promote awareness of national security and recognition of national identity.
The Hong Kong Independent Battalion, part of the Dong Jiang Column during World War II, carried out guerrilla operations in the Pearl River Delta, supported mainland forces, and protected local communities.
Friday's event included paying tribute at the ancestral hall and activities involving local youth to pass on historical knowledge and civic responsibility.
