HONG KONG - Schools across Hong Kong resumed classes on Monday as the new academic year began. Students returned to campuses in districts, marking the first day of school.

Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin attended the flag-raising ceremony and the opening assembly at Tai Po Old Market Public School. The event highlighted the start of the school year for both students and staff.

The Transport Department issued reminders ahead of the reopening, advising students to allow extra time and to familiarize themselves with public transport routes.

Operators were requested to maintain sufficient services and strengthen frequency during peak hours to meet demand.

China Daily’s photographer Edmond Tang and Adam Lam captured the scenes in Tai Po and North Point on Monday.
