CE holds consultation forum on upcoming policy address

Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu attended on Sunday morning a district forum to listen to the views and suggestions of members of the public on the upcoming 2025 Policy Address.

Lee and other principal officials attended the two-hour forum at the Ma Tau Chung Government Primary School (Hung Hom Bay) that was also joined by 120 people from different backgrounds. The forum is part of the ongoing public consultation on the 2025 Policy Address, which Lee will deliver in September.

 "There are issues that members of the public care deeply about, so I attach great importance to district consultations. This morning, my team and I attended the Policy Address District Forum, engaging in extensive exchanges with the public and learning about their concerns,” Lee said.  

“These views will let me have a better grasp on formulating policies and allocation of resources when I prepare the Policy Address."

During the forum’s first session, Lee and the other principal officials listened to the views of members of the public on various topics such as land and housing, transport, innovation and technology, financial services development, culture and sports, education, youth issues, poverty alleviation, healthcare services, and social welfare.

In the second session, participants were divided into four groups centered on the themes of "pursuing development and economic growth" and "improving people's livelihood and building our future together" to engage in more extensive exchanges with Lee and the other officials.

The principal officials who attended the forum included Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan Kwok-ki; Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po; Secretary for Justice Paul Lam Ting-kwok; Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Cheuk Wing-hing; Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong Wai-lun; Deputy Secretary for Justice Cheung Kwok-kwan; and Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang Kwok-wai.

Also present were Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui Ching-yu; Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung; Secretary for Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan; Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau Ying-wah; Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau; Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn Hon-ho; and Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho Wing-yin.

Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung Ho Poi-yan; Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong; Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak Mei-kuen; Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun Yuk-han; Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan; Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui; and Acting Secretary for Education Sze Chun-fai also joined the forum.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government earlier launched the public consultation for the policy address on June 16 and will continue to gather input from organizations and individuals from different sectors.

Members of the public can also give their views through various channels, including the 2025 Policy Address website and social media platforms.
