Immigration chief: Cambodia bans imports of vegetables, fruits from Thailand

PHNOM PENH - Cambodia on Tuesday banned imports of vegetables and fruits from Thailand, the country's immigration chief said.

"We have prohibited the imports of vegetables and fruits from Thailand at all border crossings, starting from this morning," Police Lieutenant General Sok Veasna, director general of the General Department of Immigration, told Xinhua over the phone.

Border tensions between the two countries have mounted recently after soldiers of both countries briefly exchanged gunfire in a disputed border area, resulting in the death of a Cambodian soldier.
