At least 7 killed, 12 injured in landslides at Indonesian quarry

JAKARTA - Landslides occurred at a quarry in Indonesia's West Java province on Friday, leaving at least seven people dead and 12 others injured, with three people missing, a rescuer said.

The landslides occurred in Gunung Kuda mine located in Bobos Village of Cirebon Regency, said Mamang Fatmono, acting head of the operational unit of the provincial search and rescue office.

"Seven bodies have been discovered from the scene," he told Xinhua.

As many as 12 people have been taken to the Sumber Hurip Hospital in Cirebon Regency, according to him.

"Now we are looking for three people who remain missing," Fatmono said.

Fatmono said he and ten of his personnel, along with policemen, soldiers, and volunteers, were carrying out search and rescue operations at the scene.

Governor of West Java province Dedi Mulyadi told local media that the death toll from the landslides could exceed ten.
