BEIJING - Chinese Vice-Premier He Lifeng met with Co-President of Morgan Stanley Dan Simkowitz in Beijing on Wednesday.

He, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China's commitment to promoting high-quality development through high-level opening up will invigorate and add impetus to the Chinese and global economies.

He welcomed more US-funded financial institutions and long-term capital, including Morgan Stanley, to continuously deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China and actively participate in the construction and development of China's capital market.

Simkowitz was pleased with the substantive progress made in the US-China economic and trade talks and said that he would continue to focus on the Chinese market and provide high-quality services to promote investment cooperation between US and Chinese enterprises.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said orders from US purchasers have soared, and the shipping services have been running at full capacity. This came after an economic and trade meeting in Geneva earlier this month, which eased the trade tensions between China and the US.

"This fully reflects the huge demand from each of the two countries," ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular news briefing.

Mao's remarks follow comments from President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, Michael Hart, at the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit 2025 in Beijing last week. Hart said China is both an important commodity market and commodity supplier for the United States.

The essence of China-US economic and trade relations is mutually beneficial and win-win, Mao said, adding that economic and trade cooperation between the two largest economies in the world has brought tangible benefits to enterprises and consumers of both countries.
