HONG KONG – The Asia Summit on Global Health 2025, set to be held in Hong Kong on May 26-27, will involve policymakers, healthcare experts, renowned academia, as well as influential business leaders and investors to explore opportunities and collaboration in the diverse and dynamic healthcare sector.

Positioned as Asia’s premier event on health innovation and investment, the summit is a physical event with plenary and thematic sessions, exhibitions, deal-making, and project pitching opportunities.

Last year, the summit organized over 360 one-to-one meetings and attracted more than 2,800 participants from 40 countries and regions.

Weekend boat races

The 2025 Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races are set for June 7 and 8 at the Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade, featuring 19 competition categories.

The vent will draw more than 190 teams from 12 countries and regions, including China, Japan, Thailand, and Canada. Among over 4,500 contestants, entrants from Egypt and Qatar will make their debut appearance in the race’s history.

The competition will start at 8 am, lasting until 7 pm on the first day and 6 pm on the final day. Spectators can enjoy free admission to the races along the promenade and Avenue of Stars or watch live broadcasts online.

Alongside the races, a grand celebration in honor of the Dragon Boat Festival – which will fall on May 31 – will be hosted by the Hong Kong Tourism Board from the festival day to June 8 at the same promenade, creating the city's largest Dragon Boat-themed carnival.

‘Culture City of East Asia’

In celebration of being named the "Culture City of East Asia 2025", Macao will host a citywide cultural carnival at the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards Area on Saturday and Sunday.

The Macau Cultural City Carnival will feature a cultural market displaying masterpieces from local and East Asian artists, alongside community activities centered around the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards Area, which has been revitalized into a space for cultural and recreation activities.

During the carnival, two orienteering races, attract over 1,000 participants from elite athletes to the general public.

Merchandise trade data

Hong Kong’s Census and Statistics Department will release the external merchandise trade statistics for April on Monday.

With the 90-day tariff pause agreed by the Chinese mainland and the United States, global exporters are expected to accelerate front loading of shipments. It is expected April’s total goods exports figure should not be too bad.

In the first quarter, the figure grew at an annual rate of 8.4 percent, with exports to the mainland growing strongly and exports to the US rebounding in the period.
