Technology innovators gathered in Macao for the 2025 Beyond Expo from Wednesday through Saturday, seeking diversified global opportunities for their latest products.

The exhibition attracted more than 800 international firms covering artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), extended reality (XR), new energy, and related fields.

Following its debut on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the electric vehicle battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) brought four battery products to Macao. CATL’s exhibition lineup featured its breakthrough Naxtra sodium-ion battery, the world’s first mass-produced model of its kind, alongside its latest fast-charging battery solutions.

The battery giant’s cutting-edge power solutions are enabling a new generation of smart outdoor equipment. Zhou Yongfeng, founder and CEO of startup Pandag, showcased its robotic lawn mowers at the Expo. Powered by CATL batteries, the autonomous machines can work for 10 hours and adapt cutting parameters based on grass density, the season, and terrain.

“Current operational efficiency reaches 3,000 to 6,000 square meters per hour — the equivalent to a full day’s work for traditional residential lawn mowers,” he said.

While currently focused on North America, Europe, and Australia, he sees Hong Kong and Macao as high-potential markets. “Casino resorts and golf courses face soaring labor costs,” Zhou said, citing inquiries from Macao companies.

Startups in various sectors are doing good business at the Expo. Sergiu Hulpe, a Romanian entrepreneur and co-founder of Shanghai-based startup Jester 3D, specializes in AI-powered advertising solutions that combine AI painting with 3D scanning technology to produce advertisements for clients sooner than using traditional techniques.

Using this technology can reduce advertising design costs, which Hulpe says the advertising industry needs as “the AI-powered advertisement market in Europe remains untapped.”

Tong Luyao, chief technology officer of Hangzhou-based Entertech, a startup that focuses on developing wearable devices, showcased its Looktech AI Glasses at the Expo, featuring AI integration for recognizing and recording important moments in the user’s daily life automatically through built-in camera and audio systems.

Tong said Entertech is now targeting Western markets where consumers already understand this kind of product and have a higher level of acceptance through promotions by the likes of Meta.
