TOKYO - The approval rating for the cabinet of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba hit a record low at 27.4 percent, down 5.2 percentage points from last month, the latest Kyodo News survey showed Sunday.

The support rate of the Ishiba cabinet dropped below 30 percent, the so-called danger zone where an administration is at risk of an early demise, as dissatisfaction has grown with the government's failure to effectively address soaring rice prices, Kyodo News reported.
