WASHINGTON - US President Donald Trump on Saturday demanded that the US Federal Reserve cut rates "sooner, rather than later," lashing out at Fed Chair Jerome Powell for inactivity.

"THE CONSENSUS OF ALMOST EVERYBODY IS THAT, 'THE FED SHOULD CUT RATES SOONER, RATHER THAN LATER,'" Trump said in a social media post.

"Too Late Powell, a man legendary for being Too Late, will probably blow it again -- But who knows???" Trump added.

Trump continued to air his grievances about Powell, even though he said the Fed chair would stay on the job despite the president's belief that inflation is no longer a problem. Trump wanted Powell to be "a little more active" when it comes to cutting interest rates.
