HONG KONG – As the world grapples with ever-evolving geopolitical currents, a crucial question emerges: how do we navigate? The Global Prosperity Summit 2025, set to kick off on Monday in Hong Kong, is poised to chime in with fresh insights and innovative solutions in this regard.

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural edition, the three-day summit will band together a host of world-renowned academic, business, and thought trailblazers to delve deep into topics including space innovation, artificial intelligence, global economy, climate change, and Hong Kong’s pivotal role in fostering global prosperity.

It’s all about AI

The Global AI Device Expo 2025 and the 6th Shenzhen Global AI Expo will open their doors on May 22 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, showcasing more than 1,000 AI devices brought by over 300 companies from 15 countries and regions.

The three-day event will highlight breakthrough applications across 10 scenarios and demonstrate nine categories of smart terminals, including AI-powered smartphones, wearables like smart glasses and watches, and intelligent home systems.

Chinese tech heavyweights such as Huawei, SenseTime, and Alibaba will join the expo with their international peers including those from the US, Japan, and Belgium.

More than 50 next-generation tech products are expected to make their debut at the event.

Understanding China’s capital market

The Shenzhen Stock Exchange will host its fifth Global Investor Conference on May 19-20, with the aim to facilitate international investors’ participation in China’s capital market and foster exchanges between domestic and global industry insiders.

Themed “New Quality Productive Forces: New Opportunities in China — an Open and Innovative Shenzhen Market”, the event will explore how technological innovation is driving China’s high-quality growth.

The conference is expected to attract over 400 participants, including senior officials from the country’s securities watchdog, the CEO of the Singapore Exchange, a former World Bank vice president, and the chief China economist of Morgan Stanley to share their insights on key topics such as China’s economic outlook and capital market reforms.

Dragon boat champions

Gear up for a dragon boat racing roar! This Saturday, 25 teams will make splashes on Guangzhou’s Luhu Lake during the city’s annual dragon boat championship.

The championship involving total 750 athletes from across the country will feature two categories — a 22-person open group and a 22-person corporate open group.

The packed two-day schedule will have preliminary races, an opening ceremony, semifinals, finals, and a grand award ceremony on Saturday, followed by a water sports carnival “Bamboo Drifting” canoe sprints performances, a cultural heritage-themed market, and an array of hands-on water sports experiences on Sunday.
