New spokesman for China's Ministry of National Defense makes debut

The new spokesman for China's Ministry of National Defense, Senior Colonel Jiang Bin, made his first debut on Thursday, releasing information on the nation's military and diplomatic matters.

According to the spokesperson's profile on the ministry's official website, Jiang, born in Sichuan in 1982, is also the deputy head of the ministry's Information Office.

In 1999, he was admitted to the former People's Liberation Army University of Foreign Languages. After graduating in 2003, he held various positions, including assistant translator, staff officer and director of the translation department at the Ministry of National Defense's Office for International Military Cooperation.

Jiang assumed the role of deputy head of the ministry's Information Office in June. Previously, he studied at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom, where he earned a master's degree in international studies. The new spokesman is married and has one son.

Additionally, the ministry's website indicates that there are currently two spokespersons: Zhang Xiaogang and Jiang, which implies that Wu Qian has stepped down from the role of the ministry's spokesperson.
